Google Data Center Project Approved in Barber County
The Barber County Commission has approved Google's plans for a new data center in northern Kansas. The facility, codenamed Project Helium, will span 1.7 million square feet and house thousands of computer servers. According to Google, the data center will create up to 500 full-time jobs on-site.
The commission voted 2-0 to finalize the agreement, with one commissioner abstaining from the vote. The decision was made during a special meeting held in Wichita.
