Google Defends $10 Million Purchase of Spirit Data Amid Privacy Concerns
Google has pushed back against concerns raised by a bankruptcy privacy ombudsman regarding its proposed purchase of Spirit Aviation Holdings' deidentified business data. The tech giant claimed that the deal, worth $10 million, does not include personally identifiable information and excludes the defunct airline's customer databases.
The defense comes in response to the ombudsman's report examining the proposed sale via Spirit's Chapter 11 case. Google emphasized that its intention is to use this data to train artificial intelligence models.
