Google Discontinues Pixel Tablet After Two-Year Run

Google has quietly discontinued its Pixel Tablet, which was first released in June 2023. The device was announced alongside the Pixel 7a and Pixel Fold smartphones in May of that year, but it failed to gain much traction with consumers due to its non-ideal aspect ratio screen and curious positioning as a hybrid smart home display.

The Pixel Tablet never received an update or a new model, leading many to speculate about Google's plans for the device. According to sources, Google had planned to release a second generation of the tablet but ultimately cancelled that project.

Interestingly, one publication's author was browsing the Google Store website and noticed that they were no longer able to configure notifications for when the Pixel Tablet would be back in stock. The author had been using the device as a smart display in Mexico City and wanted to purchase another for use in Pennsylvania.
