Google Drops €13 Billion on Finland Expansion
Google is making its largest single investment in Europe, pouring €13 billion into digital infrastructure, clean energy, and regional economic partnerships in Finland. The two-year investment will expand computing capacity for services like Google Search, Maps, and Gemini.
The company's existing data center campus in Hamina, established 15 years ago through the conversion of a former paper mill, has become a major AI infrastructure hub. Between 2023 and 2025, the facility supported over 600 Finnish suppliers working across construction, operations, and network infrastructure.
During the main construction period, expected in 2027 and 2028, Google estimates its projects will support more than 37,000 jobs across Finland and contribute approximately €3.6 billion annually to the country's GDP.
