Google Drops $15B on Finland's AI Infrastructure Boom
Google has announced its largest single investment in Europe to date, committing at least €13 billion ($15.1 billion) into AI infrastructure in Finland by 2028.
The tech giant plans to deploy this capital through various investments, including data centers and energy projects, with a focus on supporting the growing demand for AI infrastructure in the region.
Finland has emerged as a key location for data centers due to its available land and power supply, which is scarce throughout most of Europe. Google's investment is part of this trend, with several other companies, including Pure DC and Arcem, also announcing plans to build large-scale data centers in the country.
Google has signed a 22-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Finnish energy company Fortum, which saw its stock jump 11% on the news. The deal will provide Google with a stable supply of renewable energy for its operations in Finland.
