Google Eases EU Spam Policy After Antitrust Scrutiny
Google has made changes to its site reputation abuse enforcement policy in the European Economic Area (EEA) to avoid an antitrust fine. The EEA includes the 27 EU member states plus Iceland, Norway, and Liechtenstein.
The policy change comes after scrutiny from EU regulators under the Digital Markets Act. Google will no longer consider manual actions under its site reputation abuse policy as a penalty for search results in the EEA.
This means that publishers in Europe may no longer risk losing search visibility simply by working with commercial partners, affiliates, or other third-party content providers.
