Google Embeds Conversational AI in Gmail, Docs, and Keep
Google has launched new voice-powered features across Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Keep. These features, called Gmail Live, Docs Live, and Keep Live, are powered by the Gemini AI and allow users to interact with these applications conversationally.
The features enable users to draft documents, locate important information from their inbox, and capture fleeting thoughts quickly using natural speech. For instance, Gmail Live allows users to ask questions about information contained in their inboxes, which can reduce the need for manual searching through multiple messages.
Docs Live takes a different approach by allowing users to speak through ideas, with Gemini converting the conversation into a structured document. This feature can draw information from Gmail, Google Drive, Google Chat, and the web when preparing a draft.
The rollout marks a broader shift in Google's approach to AI, moving Gemini beyond a standalone chatbot and embedding conversational capabilities directly into everyday productivity applications.
