Google Escapes Another Breakup as Judge Rebuffs DOJ Request

Google has dodged another major court-ordered breakup after D.C. District Judge Elizabeth Brinkema rejected the DOJ's request to force a spin-off of its AdX business.

This is the second time this year Google has avoided a significant restructuring, following a similar decision in September by D.C. District Judge Amit Mehta regarding Chrome browser and Android products.

According to projections, Google's ad business will generate $239 billion in revenue for the company overall this year, with AdX being a major profit generator.

The DOJ had argued that breaking up AdX would lead to 'meaningful change' in addressing Google's search monopoly, but Google countered that such a breakup would be too complex and raise costs for its customers, particularly small businesses.
