Google Exits China: Pixel Production Shifts to Vietnam and India
Google has announced plans to move all Pixel production out of China by 2027. The decision affects phones, smartwatches, and wireless earbuds, with Vietnam and India named as new destinations. This move is reportedly a response to the ongoing tensions between Washington and Beijing.
Nikkei Asia first reported the plan in August, citing sources close to the matter. However, this is not a new effort for Google, which has been shifting Pixel production to Vietnam since 2019.
The decision was communicated to suppliers, who have expressed confidence in the move due to Google's successful development and production of the Pixel 11 series entirely in Vietnam. This experience gave Google the confidence to expand production to other products, including smartwatches and wireless earbuds.
