Google Expands Book Button Feature to More Ad Campaigns
Google has expanded its book button feature to Google Ads Search and Performance Max campaigns. This allows businesses to send searchers from their ads directly to a scheduling platform to book appointments.
The expansion is part of Reserve with Google, which integrates partner booking platforms into Google Ads. Previously, this feature was only available on Google Local Service Ads and Maps ads.
Google will automatically add the book button to eligible merchants' ads, but businesses can opt out if they choose to do so. To do this, they need to access their Google Ads settings and follow instructions in a help document provided by Google.
Michel van Luijtelaar, who spotted the expansion, noted that available does not mean active - merchants still need to add the conversion action to their campaign settings for it to influence bidding. Additionally, healthcare campaigns are excluded from this feature due to Google Ads' policies on booking links and goals.
One potential issue with the expanded book button is that it can drive budget toward a single generic homepage link, potentially affecting multi-location portfolios.
