Google Expands Clean Energy Sourcing with Finnish Wind Farm PPA
Google has signed a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Suomen Hyötytuuli Oy, a Finnish wind power producer, for electricity generated by the Alajoki-Peuralinna wind farm in Finland. The agreement aims to support the addition of new clean electricity generation in Finland and is part of Google's investment plan for the country.
The Alajoki-Peuralinna wind farm has 14 wind turbines and an estimated annual electricity production of around 250 GWh. Suomen Hyötytuuli Oy sees long-term PPAs as a crucial mechanism for enabling investments in renewable energy, according to CEO Jaakko Kleemola.
With this agreement, Google's total renewable energy capacity procured in Finland reaches 629 MW, said Aris Karcianis, Google's Head of Clean Energy and Power EMEA. The company plans to continue deploying new clean energy capacity as its operations expand in Finland, aiming to ensure access to affordable and clean energy for Finnish operators and Google's customers.
