Google Expands in Oklahoma with New Data Center Campus
Google's expansion in Oklahoma is gaining momentum as it confirms its new data center campus west of Owasso, a project that has been touted as a 'transformational moment' for the region's economic development landscape. The campus will be powered by Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO) and features construction of a new on-site substation funded by Beale Infrastructure.
The data center is part of Google's ongoing investment in the state, with over $15 billion invested statewide since its first data center campus was established in Pryor 15 years ago. The company has also signed more than 15 agreements to enable the development of new power generation and storage projects since 2011.
'Google's investment will create high-quality jobs, generate opportunities for local businesses and contribute lasting value to our communities,' said Kim Wilmes, senior vice president of economic development for the Tulsa Regional Chamber. The project is expected to bring significant benefits to the region, including infrastructure improvements and a stronger physical grid.
