Google Expands LSA Capabilities with Pre-Badge Ads and Broader Verticals
Google has rolled out significant updates to its Local Service Ads (LSA) platform. Despite transitioning LSAs to Google Ads by 2027, the company is continuing to invest in LSA and make improvements. One key update is the addition of pre-badge ads, which allow businesses to receive leads from LSAs while completing their onboarding checks.
Pre-badge ads require a license or business registration, reviews, and completed billing setup. They are not available for garage door services, healthcare verticals, and locksmiths. This new feature is designed to help advertisers better target specific services and reach their desired audiences.
Google has also expanded the list of eligible business categories under LSAs. The updated list includes dozens of specific cuisine and dining types, as well as highly granular services such as auto air conditioning service and transmission shop. Several regional limitations have been removed, allowing businesses in previously restricted areas to participate in LSA.
Additionally, the note detailing which business verticals are not eligible for the Google Verified badge has been updated. The restriction now includes auto, beauty, and dining categories, making it unavailable for these businesses.
