Google Eyes $12.2B Stake in Marvell After Custom Chip Deal
Marvell Technology has issued Google a warrant to buy a stake worth about $12.18 billion as part of a deal to help develop custom chips for the search giant, it said on Wednesday.
The custom chip development agreement was announced earlier this year, and according to Marvell, Google now has the option to purchase the 17% stake in the company at an unspecified price.
The news comes as part of a broader trend of tech companies investing heavily in custom chip design and development to improve performance and efficiency.
