Google Fitbit Air Accuracy Boosted by Simple Stride Length Adjustment
The Google Fitbit Air is a budget fitness tracker that boasts a screenless design, week-long battery life, and an attractive $99 price tag. However, when it comes to workout tracking or step counting, its accuracy leaves much to be desired.
A recent test by the author of this article compared the Fitbit Air against the Pixel Watch 2 in a step-counting test, with the Fitbit Air undercounting by roughly 650 steps over a 5,000-step walk - an error margin of more than 10%.
Fortunately, there is a simple setting change that can improve the Fitbit Air's step-counting accuracy. The solution lies in updating the stride length in Google Health settings to a manually measured value.
