Google Fitbit Air Gains Advanced Health Metrics in Latest Update
The Google Fitbit Air is set to gain new features from the Google Pixel Watch's Health Guardian suite, including Insulin Resistance Trends and Blood Pressure Trends. These metrics will be available on the free tier of the app, in addition to Sleep Breathing Quality.
The Insulin Resistance Trends feature analyzes multi-week physiological data to track shifts in metabolic health, while Blood Pressure Trends uses passive measurement of pulse and motion patterns to estimate blood pressure trends without a cuff or calibration. The features will be added to both the free and premium tiers of the app.
This update brings the Google Fitbit Air closer to competing wearables like Whoop and Garmin Cirqa, which offer similar features but at higher price points. The addition of these features may make the Google Fitbit Air more appealing to users looking for a budget-friendly fitness tracker with advanced metrics.
