Google Fixes Chromecast Setup Issue for Older Devices

Google has resolved an issue that prevented some older Chromecast owners from setting up their devices. The problem started earlier this year, when users began reporting issues with certain apps on their oldest Chromecast dongles.

Things took a turn for the worse after an update to the Google Home app left some owners unable to set up their older devices. Some users even found their devices disappearing from the Google Home app or becoming impossible to add.

Google confirmed that the issue has been fixed and recommends updating the Google Home app to version 4.26 or newer, which should resolve the setup problem. If the device still refuses to set up after the update, owners are advised to contact support.
