Google Gemini 3.8 Flash Brings Deeper Reasoning, Uncertainty on Costs
Google has released Gemini 3.8 Flash, an AI model that 'works harder' than its predecessor by running more reasoning steps and calling tools iteratively.
The update comes just weeks after Gemini 3.7 Flash was launched, showing Google's aggressive pace in the AI race.
While the sticker price remains unchanged at $0.75 per million input tokens and $3.75 per million output tokens, Google warns that the model may use more tokens to maximize performance, especially at higher effort levels.
This means that even though the token cost hasn't increased, the total bill might rise due to the added depth of reasoning.
