Google Gemini Lands on Windows Desktop
Google has made Gemini available as an installable program for PCs running Windows 10 and Windows 11 worldwide. The Windows client, which was previously only accessible through a browser, can be accessed by pressing the Alt and space bar keys simultaneously.
The application allows users to reach everything they already use Gemini for, including passing multi-step tasks to Gemini Spark, a '24/7 personal AI agent.' Users can also draft project summaries by pulling information directly from Gmail and Google Drive.
Spark is one of the features that has come with age, subscription, and country limits on other platforms. The post does not say whether those limits follow them to Windows. Some office tasks may be restricted due to account type, as Spark requires a personal Google Account rather than a work or school account.
The application also allows users to generate custom images with Nano Banana and high-quality video with Gemini Omni. These features have been available on other platforms for some time, but are now accessible from the desktop without a browser tab.
