Google Gets Green Light for Botetourt County Data Center Site
Botetourt County in Virginia has cleared Google to begin grading on a planned data center site, according to officials. The county issued a land disturbance permit for the 312-acre site located inside the Botetourt Center at Greenfield.
The permit allows contractors to use 'dry support bridges' to temporarily access wetlands during construction, and requires appropriate erosion and sediment control as well as stormwater management measures.
County officials expect intermittent blasting during site preparation, which will be regulated by the Virginia State Fire Marshal's Office. Noise-generating activities will not be allowed between 9:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., and the county permit prohibits clearly audible noise within 50 feet of the property line after construction is complete.
