Google Health Rolls Out Toggle to Turn Off AI-Driven Guidance
Google Health has rolled out an update that gives users more control over AI-driven guidance in the app's Today tab. The update, version 5.06, includes a toggle to turn off Health Coach, a Gemini-powered chatbot, from the Today tab.
The toggle, called 'No Coach insights,' removes verbose guidance and insights from the app's home screen. This change was first spotted by 9to5Google earlier this summer when they discovered strings in Google Health that referenced the new feature.
Health Coach is a flagship perk of Google Health Premium, but some users have found its advice to be questionably accurate. Android Authority's Brady Snyder wrote about his experience with Health Coach last month and found that it made the app worse.
To turn off Health Coach from the Today tab, users can tap their profile picture, then go to Google Health settings, followed by selecting 'No Coach insights.' This will remove Health Coach text from the app's home screen, but users will still be able to access Coach through other means.
