Google Honors Dolly Parton with Butterfly Animation Tribute
Google has launched an Easter egg animation honoring Dolly Parton, following her death at age 80 after a brief battle with cancer. The beloved country legend's representatives confirmed her passing on August 25, and tributes began pouring in across the country.
The Empire State Building lit up pink, and Google's homage to Parton's legacy involves its Easter egg feature, which projects a butterfly animation and the phrase 'We'll Always Love You, 1946 - 2026' whenever someone searches her name.
This animation is a nod to Parton's song 'Love is like a Butterfly,' released in 1974. The singer-songwriter also grew up in the Smoky Mountains, where she'd frequently chase butterflies as a child, according to an interview with HELLO! magazine in 2024.
