Google Integrates Sensitive Content Warning into Android Photo Picker

Google is working on integrating its Sensitive Content Warning system into the native Android Photo Picker. This feature, powered by Android System SafetyCore, classifies media on-device without sharing data with Google, allowing third-party apps to warn users when they try to select explicit content.

The system has already been adopted in Google Messages as a setting that detects and warns about incoming or outgoing images and videos containing nudity. This feature will potentially work when a user tries to send media that contains nudity, preventing accidental embarrassment.

Once integrated into Photo Picker, the feature could allow apps to request the Photo Picker to run a nudity check on selected media before it's sent, which would save users from accidentally sharing explicit content.
