Google Integrates Travel Features into AI Mode in Search
Google has rolled out three new travel features in AI Mode in Search. Users can now track airfare while chatting with AI, see award prices in points and miles, and book hotels directly through Google.
The flight price tracking feature allows users to set up price monitoring while conversing with AI Mode. For example, a user could say 'I want to fly from Los Angeles to Paris for a week in October, preferably nonstop and in business class.' The AI can offer flight options based on those parameters, and the user can ask it to track the prices.
The points and miles search feature allows users to search for flights or hotels using their loyalty currency. For example, a user could say 'I want to travel from Atlanta to Miami using my AA miles. Help me find some options for nonstop flights departing Oct 9 and returning on Oct 12.' The AI can then display the award rates using current data supplied by participating loyalty programs.
The hotel booking feature allows users to book hotels directly through Google. Users can describe what they're looking for in a hotel, and AI Mode will present a visual list of options, including guest reviews and other factors for comparison. Once a user settles on a property, they can select 'Continue on Google' and complete the booking with the chosen partner using Google Pay.
