Google Invests $15 Billion in Finland's AI Infrastructure
Google has announced its largest single investment in Europe to date, pledging €13 billion ($15 billion) towards Finland's artificial intelligence infrastructure. The tech giant will fund three new data centers and expand an existing site, as well as support energy projects that will provide power for the growing demand spurred by AI services.
The $15 billion investment is expected to contribute an annual average of €3.6 billion to Finland's GDP and support more than 37,000 jobs nationwide during the initial construction phase (2027-2028).
Google's decision to invest in Finland comes as no surprise, given its attractive location for data centers due to its cool climate, plentiful low-carbon electricity, and relatively uncongested power grid.
