Google Invests $15 Billion in Finland's Digital Infrastructure
Google has announced a $15 billion investment in Finland's digital infrastructure and clean energy projects. This significant boost to the Finnish economy will create thousands of jobs, both during the construction phase and once the facilities are operational.
The investment will also fund regional environmental projects across the country. In addition, Google is partnering with local colleges to offer AI upskilling programs for over 4,400 workers and creating new training opportunities for 100 Finnish students in data center careers.
Google is taking steps to support Finland's grid by signing a 22-year agreement to extend the life of the Loviisa nuclear power plant. This deal will be complemented by the addition of new onshore wind capacity and a 94-megawatt battery system to help stabilize prices during cold, windless periods.
