Google Invests Big in Arkansas Solar Project for Data Center
Google has invested $526 million in Entergy Arkansas' Arkansas Cypress Solar and Battery project to power its West Memphis data center. The project, worth approximately $1.602 billion, includes a 600-megawatt solar facility paired with 350 megawatts of battery storage near Pine Bluff.
The remaining $190 million is designated for transmission-system upgrades needed to serve the data center. Google's contribution amounts to roughly one-third of the project's estimated total cost.
The Arkansas Public Service Commission approved the project earlier this year, and it is expected to begin operating by the end of 2028. The exact impact of the payments on other Entergy Arkansas customers remains a regulatory question.
