Google Issues Emergency Update for Chrome Browser Amid Critical Security Flaw

Google has issued an emergency update for its Chrome browser to patch a critical security flaw that has been exploited in the wild. The zero-day vulnerability, discovered by researcher Salvatore Gulizia, allows attackers to run malicious software or commands on affected computers remotely.

The bug can be triggered by clicking a fake website and enables Remote code execution (RCE), which gives hackers control over targeted devices. They can steal data, install malware, and take complete control of the device.

Google has released a multi-platform update for Windows, macOS, and Linux that tackles 12 security flaws, including the critical patch for CVE-2026-85046. The company is aware that an exploit for this vulnerability exists in the wild.

To update Chrome, users can open the browser, click on the three vertical dots in the top-right corner, select Help followed by About Google Chrome, and then Relaunch to restart the browser.
