Google Jumps on Price Hike Bandwagon with TV Streamer and Nest Increases
Google has raised prices on its TV Streamer and Nest smart home devices. The company increased prices for the Google TV Streamer, which is a set-top box that streams content from apps, by 50%. The device now costs $149.99, up from its previous price of $99.99.
Prices for the Nest lineup have also gone up. The Nest doorbells saw a $20 hike, while Nest cameras got increases ranging between $20 and $50. For example, the Nest Cam (battery) now costs $199.99, up from its previous price of $179.99.
Google attributed the price hikes to rising memory and component costs. The company said it is adjusting U.S. pricing for select devices, effective August 31. This move follows similar price increases by Amazon and Apple in recent days.
