Google Jumps Prices on TV Streamer and Nest Cameras
Google has quietly raised prices on its TV Streamer and Nest camera lineup. The Google TV Streamer, which replaced Chromecast as Google's flagship streaming box in 2024, now costs $150 at the Google Store and Best Buy. This is a $50 increase from its original price of $100.
The change affects not only the TV Streamer but also all five Nest cameras and doorbells. The battery-powered Nest Cam, for example, has jumped to $200 from $180, while the second-generation wired Nest Cam Outdoor now costs $200 instead of $150.
Google cites increased component costs as the reason for the price hikes. The TV Streamer's 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage may be contributing factors, given their memory requirements. This move comes after recent Google hardware has also faced cost pressures.
Although prices have gone up, it is possible to find older stock at launch prices at some retailers. However, these supplies are likely to disappear quickly as newer inventory replaces them.
