Google Keeps Control of AdX Despite Ruling on Illegal Monopolies

A federal judge has blocked the US Department of Justice's attempt to force Google to sell its online advertising exchange, AdX. The ruling is a setback for the DOJ's efforts to break up Google's advertising technology business.

The judge had previously ruled that Google operates illegal monopolies in digital advertising but declined to order the sale of AdX, instead accepting most behavioral remedies proposed by the DOJ.

The specific remedies have not been disclosed, pending a review by both parties. This is the second time this year that Google has avoided a breakup despite federal rulings against its market dominance.
