Google Lets Users Hide Gemini's Visible Watermarks
Google has updated its Gemini AI tool to allow users to remove visible watermarks from images, videos, and music generated using the platform. The update includes a toggleable 'Media watermark' setting in Gemini and Google's AI video generator, Flow.
The new feature removes the 'sparkle' watermark that appears in the bottom-right corner of content generated with the company's Nano Banana and Omni models. However, AI-generated content will still have invisible SynthID watermarks and C2PA metadata embedded in the background.
This change means users can no longer easily identify whether an image or video is AI-generated, as visible watermarks are now optional. Google plans to roll out this feature to Search as well, but it won't be available in countries that require visible watermarks.
