Google Locks Down Renewable Energy from 155MW Oklahoma Solar Farm
German energy giant RWE has signed a long-term contract with Google to supply all of its renewable energy needs from a new solar farm in Oklahoma. The Crooked Creek Solar project, located in McCurtain County, will span 155 megawatts and provide power to the regional grid.
The deal is part of Google's ongoing effort to reduce its carbon footprint through massive clean energy purchases. In 2025, the company reported a 37% increase in electricity demand but still managed to achieve a 2% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions thanks to its renewable energy program.
Ingmar Ritzenhofen, Chief Commercial Officer at RWE Americas, said that the project demonstrates 'how strategic partnerships can accelerate new energy development while creating jobs, generating local tax revenue, and strengthening communities.'
