Google Locks in 396MW Geothermal Deal with Fervo Energy
Fervo Energy has secured a significant deal with Google to supply geothermal energy. The power purchase agreement covers 396 MW of capacity from the Cape Station project in Utah, which is expected to come online by 2028.
The partnership marks another collaboration between Fervo and Google, following previous projects in Nevada. This new agreement includes an option for Google to expand its energy offtake by approximately 600 MW by June 2030, potentially reaching nearly 1 GW.
Fervo Energy develops enhanced geothermal technology designed to harness geothermal resources with expanded drilling and reservoir techniques. The company states that the Cape Station project represents the largest enhanced geothermal power arrangement to date, aiming to add new clean energy capacity without additional costs to existing ratepayers.
