Google's struggles to retain top talent in artificial intelligence have deepened as two high-profile researchers, Jonas Adler and Alexander Pritzel, are reportedly leaving the company to join rival Anthropic. The departures come after recent exits of tech luminaries Noam Shazeer to OpenAI and Nobel laureate John Jumper to Anthropic. These losses highlight the fierce competition for elite engineering talent in the AI sector.

The two researchers, Adler and Pritzel, are key contributors to Google's flagship Gemini AI model. Adler specializes in AI-driven software coding projects, while Pritzel focuses on the foundational training processes of AI systems. Their departure will further complicate Google's efforts to compete with rival AI players like OpenAI and Anthropic.

The GOOGL stock was down nearly 0.8% on Wednesday at the time of writing. The recent wave of departures has raised concerns about Google's ability to retain its top minds, particularly in the critical area of AI research.
