Google Maps Brings Always-On Speedometer and Speed Limits to Android Auto
Google Maps is enhancing its features for Android Auto users by introducing an always-on speedometer and displaying speed limits, even when no destination is set. This feature has been in development since 2019, but it had a bumpy rollout due to a bug that caused the speedometer to disappear for some users.
The live speedometer was finally introduced to Android Auto a few months ago but had a short-lived presence before disappearing again. Google has confirmed that this disappearance was indeed a bug and not an intentional change or rollback.
Now, the feature is being rolled out with the ability to display both current road speed limits and live speed without requiring a destination set. However, it's worth noting that not everyone will have access to this feature yet as its rollout is still underway.
