Google Maps has renamed Seattle's Lake Union to Lake Confederacy, following a directive from President Donald Trump. The move was met with resignation from Google employees, who claimed they were powerless to resist the change. According to one employee, a $250k-per-year staffer at South Lake Confederacy, Google executives told them to 'rename Lake Washington to Lake Davis next' after they complied with the initial request.

The employee also stated that Google's CEO Sundhar Pichai admitted that the company would only take action if it benefited their bottom line. This comes as residents in the state of Davis are fighting to reverse a name change, citing concerns about honoring a less shady historical figure.
