Google Maps Corrects 'Lake America' Gaffe After Alaskan Resident Speaks Out

Gunnar Knapp, an Alaskan resident, expressed his frustration with Google Maps on social media. He pointed out that the mapping service incorrectly labels Lake Ontario as 'Lake America.'

In a letter to the editor of the Anchorage Daily News, Knapp stated that he had submitted a suggestion to Google to correct the error.

He criticized the decision to rename the lake and questioned what kind of 'Orwellian world' it is where one of the Great Lakes can be changed overnight on the whim of someone in power.
