Google Maps Custom Lists: A Game-Changer for Travel Planning
XDA's News Editor and Entertainment Segment Lead Patrick O'Rourke recently discovered an often-overlooked feature in Google Maps that has revolutionized his travel planning. With thousands of articles under his belt, he relies on organization to stay on top of things while traveling.
Patrick used to jot down addresses, phone numbers, and other important information in a chaotic note in Google Keep. However, he found that using custom lists in Google Maps is a far more efficient way to plan his itinerary. This feature allows him to add notes and rearrange the order of each pin, making it customizable.
To create a custom list, Patrick followed these steps: open the Google Maps app, tap on the 'You' tab at the bottom, open 'New List', name the list and add a description, select an emoji (optional), turn on Customize List Order, and tap Create. He can then start adding locations to the list.
The custom lists feature has been a game-changer for Patrick's travel planning. He can now easily organize multiple similar locations in a list using icons or emojis. For example, if he's visiting several restaurants at CES, he can use a fork emoji to view them all at a glance on the map.
