Google is expanding its Maps app to offer more than just navigation, with new AI features that enable it to handle complex tasks. The updated version of Google Maps now includes an 'Ask Maps' feature that allows users to request specific actions, such as ordering food along their route or finding hotels and events in the area.

The AI-powered feature can search for suitable restaurants, consider personal preferences or dietary needs, and place orders directly into a user's cart. However, it requires the user to complete the purchase themselves.

Additionally, Ask Maps assists in finding hotels, restaurants, or events by evaluating criteria such as price, reviews, or location and suggesting suitable options. This feature aims to simplify travel and leisure planning.

The new personalization feature allows users to link their Gmail account with Ask Maps, enabling the app to recognize hotel or flight bookings and provide tailored recommendations.
