Google Maps Integrates Essential Features Directly into Navigation
Google Maps has several integrations that can save users from constantly switching between apps while navigating. One of these features is in-app music controls for both Spotify and Apple Music, allowing users to control their music without leaving the navigation screen.
To access these controls, users need to tap their profile icon and select Settings, then choose Navigation and Music playback controls. They can then choose the music service they want to use and see playback controls in Google Maps while navigating.
Another feature is the ability to make table reservations directly from the app for participating restaurants. When a user finds a restaurant in Google Maps, they can select it to open its listing and scroll down to find an option such as Find a table. They can then tap this link to make a booking.
Additionally, users can share their live location with others while navigating through messaging apps like Google Messages or iMessage. To do this, they need to swipe up on the information card and tap Share trip progress, choose the person they want to share their journey with, and send the message.
