A recent executive order from US President Donald Trump has led to a change in the name of Lake Ontario on Google Maps.

The order, which was aimed at renaming the lake 'Lake America', has been implemented by Google as part of its policy to follow official government sources.

However, this change is only reflected for users within the US. In Canada, the original name 'Lake Ontario' remains.

This decision has sparked a reaction from Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, who stated that the name 'Lake Ontario' comes from the Wendat word Ontari’io, meaning 'the lake is beautiful, the lake is big', and is over 400 years old.
