Google Maps Now Lets You Order Food and Find Hotels with Voice Commands
Google Maps has expanded its AI-powered 'Ask Maps' tool to perform a broader range of personalized and conversational requests. Users can now ask Maps to order food, find hotels, and provide suggestions that factor in their existing plans.
The new features include asking Maps to order specific meals for pickup or delivery, taking into account dietary needs, location, and saved places. For example, users can say 'order spicy pad kee mao with seafood for me to pick up on my way home.'
Food ordering is rolling out with partners like Square and Toast, with Uber Eats support coming soon. Maps also now allows users to find hotels and local events that suit their specific requirements.
The tool can automatically consider existing plans, such as upcoming flights or dinner reservations, thanks to a feature called Personal Intelligence powered by Gemini. This enables Ask Maps to provide more personalized responses.
