Google Maps Renames Lake Ontario to 'Lake America' Amid US-Canada Trade Tensions

Trump signed an order to officially rename Lake Ontario, which borders both the US and Canada, to 'Lake America' after imposing 50% tariffs on a range of goods from Canada under Section 338 of the Tariff Act of 1930. The move is seen as part of the ongoing spat over tariffs between the two nations.

Google noted that the name change will only appear on Google Maps for users in the US, while those in Canada will continue to see 'Lake Ontario'. Users elsewhere may see both names displayed.
