Google Meet Brings AI-Powered Note-Taking to In-Person Meetings

Google is rolling out a new feature that allows Google Meet to take notes during in-person meetings. This feature, which uses Gemini to capture discussions and organize them into a summary, lists action items, and full transcript, was announced at Google Cloud Next 2026 event.

To use the feature, simply open Google Meet on your web browser or phone, tap the Take Notes button from the home screen, and hit record. Once the meeting ends, you can wrap up the recording and access the summary and transcript in a fresh Google Doc.

The feature is available to Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus, Google AI Pro and Ultra consumer plans, and Frontline Plus users. Android users will start seeing this from August 11, while web users should get it starting August 14. iOS users will have to wait a bit longer, with the rollout beginning no sooner than August 31.
