Google Meet Now Takes Notes in In-Person Meetings with Gemini
Google has rolled out a new feature in Google Meet that allows users to take notes during in-person meetings using Gemini's AI-powered note-taking tool. The feature, called 'Take notes for me,' was previously only available for online meetings but is now extended to include physical gatherings.
The process is simple: start the session from the Meet home screen, set the device down and let Gemini work, and then stop the audio capture when the meeting ends. Within a few minutes, Gemini will process the recording and fill in the Google Docs file with a summary, list of action items, and full transcript.
The feature is available on Android devices starting August 11, 2026, and will be rolled out to the web version by August 14 and iPhone/iPad devices by August 31. However, users must have an eligible Google account or Workspace plan, including Business Standard and Business Plus, Enterprise Standard and Enterprise Plus, Frontline Plus for frontline staff, and Google AI Pro for Education.
The supported languages at launch include English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. However, Gemini can only handle one language per session, so users must choose the meeting's dominant language in advance to avoid any issues with transcription.
