Google Meet Users Miss Out on Video Call Boosters in Settings
The author of this article spends a significant amount of time on Google Meet for work and previously only used it as needed without exploring its settings. After diving into every tab, panel, and toggle, they found several settings that made a difference in their video call experience.
One of the first things to check is the resolution. Go to Settings > Video and adjust the Send Resolution (maximum) and Receive Resolution (maximum). The author found that bumping up the send resolution from Auto to 720p improved the quality of their video, even on a strong connection.
The Framing setting in the Backgrounds and effects panel under Appearance automatically centers you in the shot. However, if you're not using a virtual background, Meet only frames you once when you join, and it won't recenter you again, even if you drift.
Google's Studio lighting is a standout feature that simulates studio-quality lighting by allowing you to adjust two light sources with their own intensity sliders and color palettes. This feature can help reduce the appearance of washed-out or greenish tones in your video.
