Google Messages Gets Note-Taking Capability with Keep Integration

Google has rolled out its Keep Notes integration to Google Messages on Android, following last week's September 2026 Android Drop announcement.

The integration allows users to quickly create and share notes within conversations by tapping the 'plus' menu in a chat. A new Keep Notes shortcut is available, and users can also see a contextual 'Create list' shortcut in the suggestions row.

When users tap the Keep icon, they are taken to their feed of notes, with an option to create a new note appearing at the bottom-right corner as a FAB (floating action button). This brings up a modified editor with shortcuts for list creation and formatting.

The integration aims to make it easy to create and share notes within conversations. The send button shares the note to the chat, and tapping the chat bubble allows users to edit the note again.
