Google Messages' Redesign Leaves Users Scrambling for Organizational Workarounds

The two features that were taken away were Conversation categories and OTP auto-delete. Conversation categories automatically sorted messages into suitable categories, such as personal or business, while OTP auto-delete regularly scanned the inbox for one-time password (OTP) messages and deleted any older than 24 hours.
Gilbert found a workaround to manage his OTP messages by using search filters in Google Messages' settings menu. He could then mass-delete spam and OTP texts, although it required more effort than before.
