Google Messages Redesigns Long-Press Menu for Easier One-Handed Use

Google Messages is expanding its beta access to a redesigned long-press menu that aims to improve one-handed usage. This redesign was first tested in January and includes a blur effect on the background, with a menu appearing below the selected item. The new design replaces the old toolbar at the top of the screen, which showed three actions on the right and an overflow menu.

The long-press menu now shows the following options: Reply, Forward, Copy, Star, Delete, Select more, Info, and Save (for media). If there's not enough space for the list, the selected item will appear higher up on the screen with a bouncy animation.

A second long-press on text also allows users to copy just a particular part of the message, rather than copying the entire thing. This feature was previously unavailable.
